My best friends brother does not like crows. Tries to shoot them. He says that a couple of years ago he took some long shots at them out at the farm and missed. Now those flocks stay just out of his vision. If I'm sitting on the porch they will hang out in the apple trees or front pasture. If Jim comes along, they squawk their guts out and move to the trees around the side of the house. If he moves to the side, they move around to the back. If he's on the back deck, they just take off up the creek. I've watched this over and over. It's a joke in the family.
For years I have kidded him that the dumbest crow is smarter than he, as he would pick off any of 'em. And now I read this article, and realize he may have a challenge.
(I realize not all crows are ravens, and all ravens are crows. The ones I'm talking about are big black birds, go "squawk" and "caw". And seem to die of natural causes.)
