From the BBC (and perhaps off topic). It reports the world's first solar-thermal power station from Seville Spain. It is mae of a concrete tower about 40 storeys high, surrounded by 600 mirrors, each 120 sq m, focusing sun light onto a boiler in order to run a turbine generator putting out 11 MWatts. the tower of power
At the moment it is is 3X more expensive than a conventional generator, but the price might fall as more are built. Obviously not much use in cloudy Northern climates, but the article even suggests creating banks of these stations in the Sahara desert and running the power North. Who knows, but it is a great sight and a beautiful idea. No CO2.
PS. There is a video news link in the top right hand corner of the article which is worth running.
