Horkheimer (the name doesn't help to begin with) may be clownish,
but he isn't a clown. And if he acted all serious, viewers would call
him a boring stiff and stereotype science types again.
Plus the guy's show is only 5 minutes long and most PBS stations stick
it in their 1 a.m. time slots. He has a lot to convey in that short period
of air time and keep such an audience's attention. The fact that he is
still on the air after all these years is a testament to something good.
No doubt JH got a few folks interested in astronomy. And he clearly
likes what he does. If more adults showed such enthusiasm for good
things in life, maybe life wouldn't be quite so crappy so often.

And I have never heard JH say anything as foot in mouth putting as
what Sir Patrick just did. He should have said something about the
poor quality of modern TV - which can be blamed on idiots of both
sexes - and left it at that.
