I made some forays into voice to text....

and voice command a few years ago.

I still try to keep my ear to the ground on anything good on the horizon, but your experience is what I have come to expect.

Obviously, reliable voice to text and voice commands would be a major advance in computing. I compare it to the lack of progress we have made in building androids. It seems to be a difficult thing and nothing really satisfactory has been produced.

The answer that you received seems to indicate that they have no idea how to fix the problem and if they have no outlook on fiuture releases it is likely that the problems will never be fixed. In other words, "we are back at square one". They may be completely scrapping the existing code. Kind of like a TV series canceled at midseason.

Buggy software is common. PC games are infamous for ill advised release. They are under immense pressure to meet marketing deadlines and recover development expense.
As far as giving them leeway, other than getting a refund there is little you can do. It is not too expensive because it doesn't work very well.

Should they release buggy software? I don't think so, but there are people getting yelled at to get the product out. If it is called a beta program you have to expect bugs but in my opinion it should be criminal to realese a non-beta with serious known issues such as you describe. That being said there are many software companies (Symantec is one) that have never produced a product without serious problems.

Then you have Microsoft..........
