First, do no harm.

Health care is too profitable a business for private enterprise to ever allow it to be nationalized. Only those national health programs designed primarily to funnel taxpayer dollars into the insurance companies are tolerated.

Still, health provider greed is not the primary reason health care in the USA is still "private". The major reason is that with health care prohibitively expensive without employer/government contributions tied to jobs, the workforce is terrified of losing their already-diminishing employee health benefits, which keeps them docile and quiet and obedient. I know I am financially secure enough to prosper at a lower salary, but with my wife and I at the age when even routine health care is prohibitively expensive, I dare not exercise my "freedom of choice" in the job market.

Thanks for the graph, it was just what the doctor ordered.
