Part of me doesn’t want life to be found on Mars. I want to see humans living on Mars and one day terraforming it. Martian life could complicate that.
If life is found, I am betting it is related o Earth life. Carried there by our probes or a rock blasted off the Earth.
What would help get humans there, IMO, would be the discovery of actual liquid water.
And if Mars is truly experiencing global warming, then we may see a thicker atmosphere and liquid water. Liquid water can exist in a few places on Mars where temperatures and pressures briefly exist for it to happen- like deep in the Hellas Basin. However, any liquid water on the surface would quickly evaporate in the dry air. These oasis could become more habitable as Mars warms up.
Other than Mars, we have several interesting worlds to study here in our solar system. I would put Titan up on the top of that list.
