It's not what's believable, it's what is reality.

First, it's war. Let's check the geography. The US, which has been screwing over Iran for years and years, has gone half-way around the world to attack a country without any good reason.

Iran is next-door to Iraq, and has a very good reason to not want a strong American presence on it's borders. That's a simple, impersonal reality.

What would the US do if Iran had invaded Mexico?

Second, it's war. The US has supplied money, weapons and supplies to many, many people fighting folks not friendly to American business. The French in Vietnam after WWII were simply American mercenaries, armed, uniformed, and paid by America. The US supplied weapons and money to the tribes fighting the Russians in Afghanistan. There are too many more to list, Google will help.

For Iran to support anyone resisting the American presence on their borders only makes sense. It's not personal.

Why are "US officials" beating the drums now, trying to make it seem criminal for Iran to support Iraqis? Because Cheney/Bush are aware time is running out, that they have lost, and their only chance at some legacy is to widen the war by attacking Iran. To enmesh the US in a situation which will require more and more military power, more and more lives and more and more money.

Because they are ideologues who are not mature enough to know how to negotiate.

Why do you suppose we aren't reading articles inspired by "US officials" about how grim conditions are in North Korea, how women, children, peasants, Christians, and lovers of democracy are treated? Because it doesn't fit the political agenda.

There should be a certain maturity evident in evaluating the information coming from these people. They haven't been forthcoming with the American people yet. Their agenda is always hidden, always benefits the wealthy. And only the wealthy.
