>"White House threatens veto"
The House, eager to do something about record high gasoline prices in advance of the Memorial Day weekend, voted today to approve stiff penalties for those found guilty of gasoline price gouging.
Bush, on the hand, threatens to veto the bill if it gets through Congress stating that "this form of price controls that could result in fuel shortages.".
REALLY? Bush double speak again. He has to "first declare an energy emergency before the anti-gouging law could be enforced." So you know where THAT is going. The old frog in the hot water trick. We could see prices climb all summer long before any "emergency" is declared. And for what's it's worth, it might just embolden GWB to CREATE an emergency SO HE COULD FREEZE GAS PRICES AT $4.50 a gallon.
I hope you Americans feel your blood pressure going up and support Congress every step of the way.
The arrogance of George W. Bush knows no bounds.
