Here's a hint:

You really don't see the suffragette movement as something necessary and important (I'm telling your wife!)? Groups that advocated humane treatment for Chinese laborers? Abolitionists? Anti-lynching groups? JDL?

Cripes. Got anything from the last fifty years? It's like when I ask what the Left has done for anyone lately, and I get the Voting Rights Act. And frankly, I'm not sure the JDL is an example you want to use.

If you read about a group a lot in the newspapers, I'd generally avoid them. National groups are the ones I'm talking about, those who spend most of their time lobbying for special interests in Washington and issuing press releases to the media.

You'll never read much about the quiet groups--the ones out there in the shelters and other places actually helping people.

I stand by my assessment of the vast majority of "representative groups." Even the NAACP, which has an honorable history, is rotting on that vine nowadays, becoming a partisan lackey of the Democrats.

You want to do some good for people, give to the Salvation Army.
