Every day as I leave work, there are Hispanic cleaning crews just coming in to work. They speak nothing but Spanish. If you don't HAVE to speak and understand English, you won't and then you expect to do well in English-speaking schools? My family emigrated from Germany. They learned English. German was not allowed to be spoken in the home except on very rare occasions. My dad regretted it because he would have liked to have learned German. But he got a good education in school because he English was his language, not German.
