Florida weather and STS 118

STS 118 will bring a device that will allow the Shuttle (Endeavour) to draw energy from the ISS...This way the shuttle could stay much longer in space.

If the shuttle could reduce the time between undocking and landing to several hours, wouldn't that increase the chances of landing at the KSC?
Or is the Florida weather so completely unpredictable it wouldn't work?
