Sorry, I have to amend that one.

My old Astronomy books have helped tremendously! No, there's nothing wrong in that. Universities rely on books to back up on lectures, etc. I thank my Alma Mater for my books, which I still rely on to this day.

The pity comes when no one reads them, acts upon them, debukes them, etc.

Just as you need history in everything else, you definitely need to know the history behind Astronomy and physics... it is ever changing and evolving so that we can truly understand what's out there.
