As I've explained many times before, authoritarian conservatism is a psychological state, not an ideology. The Soviet Union with profoundly AC, as was Nazi Germany; while there seems to be hope now that America might recover from its flirtation with authoritarian conservativism. Demagogues of either polarity know quite well how to play the AC impulse like a violin.
