Science Fiction » in reply to virtual tour of Enterprise D

Wasted space, in Art Deco.

All the ships I've been on (except luxury liners) have been cramped, claustrophobic (or should I say cozy?) little warrens of narrow passageways and steep ladders, tiny doors and hatches, decks and overheads just far enough apart for a man to stand, all bulkheads no more than a few steps from the center of each compartment. Pipes, valves, switches, cable bundles and machinery are everywhere, accessible. It's like living inside a radio, one of the old ones with hand-soldered connections and no circuit boards.

This is a beautiful piece of animation, and I look forward to exploring the finished product, but its not how I imagine a spaceship.
