Ugh, think of 3D pop-up ads.
And the bandwidth. Everyone will need a T1, just to pull up their favorite 3D websites.
Obviously, this tech has a long way to go. Will need a way to bring the pixel-size way down, and produce multiple colors and brightnesses. Perhaps they could put the image inside of a crystal cylinder filled with gasses that would phosphoresce at tunable frequencies. Or suspend a dust of nano-sized LEDs.
One thing I don't understand: how do they get a laser beam to stop and cause something to glow at a certain distance from its source?
