Hey, take two magnets...
Pull them a little apart, then let go.
They will snap together. Do they then go hurtling away across the room, just because one "fell" into the other?
No. They may twitch a bit, but they basically stay where they hit.
Start with two equal-sized magnets, then work-up to one big one and one little one. If you pay careful attention to low-friction surfaces or supports, you'll see what we've been hitting you over head with in the gravitational side of potential field theory (and practice)
