...the real talents of that army specialist are wasted, because it's quite obvious he could earn far more writing faux neutral point-of-view op-ed pieces for the NYT.
I'm afraid that, compared to mine, your cynicism looks like Sherriff Andy Taylor's on the Andy Griffith Show.
Once you see how all the pieces fit together, NYT op-ed pieces, AFP photographers, fluctuations in the stock market that benefit certain entities, certain corporations trying to meet certain time-tables, etcetera...one no longer holds the various parties innocent of what amounts to very intentional subterfuge and propaganda for material gain - in this case, including the aforementioned soldiers, who, I suspect, are just pawns, looking for some notoriety (even the left-wing variety a la Cindy Sheehan) and probably a few nice extra paychecks.

The whole thread (27 posts)
- Amazing piece in the Times today. Bad news from Iraq.
- A response from some other vets
- Who wrote it?
- On being a "Surrender Monkey"
- a) too well-written to be the words of non-coms, and b) soldiers are too unsophisticated to match Tech's godly world-view.
- The NYT has a vested interest in seeing us fail.
