The answer to my MD RB treatment query is in the NYT article I posted below.

Thanks for the info ont he 1956 film version of MD. I don't know if anyone
will ever be able to capture that great, great novel enough to satisfy how
I imagine it to be, but they did a good job. The film even felt "modern" in
certain aspects.
