The independent commission hired by NASA was correct. No one denies visiting astronauts took booze into the astronaut
"quarantine". It was there for a reason.
The independent commission found astronauts, adults all, drank that booze, and sometimes way, way to close to launch.
NASA comes along and whitewashes the affair, sort of. What they said was that they could find no evidence. Of course there was no evidence. Booze is gone at the rate of about 0.4 oz/hour.
I'd go with the independent folks as opposed to the PR folks at NASA, who have historically done everything possible to maintain the mystic of astronauts and space flight. There are well-doucmented cover-ups in the past, no reason to not continue.
