The middle class has taken out apprenticeships and gone to college, then bought houses, paid their share of taxes and then some, has purchased a wide variety o consumer goods, has utilized utilities, hospitals, malls and paid for police departments, fire departments and animal control folks and paid for NASA. Said economic activity also increased the middle class.
Now, the upper class and their dupes are running the US. And George W. Bush, their darling, reminds one of Hitler. Bush's invasion of Iraq and the rhetoric proceeding it can't help but remind one of Hitler before invading Czechoslovakia or Austria. Declaring war in the name of peace is the classic way of rationalizing aggression.
At the rate the US is going there will be no middle class except for the technicians needed to support the upper class way of life. It has already been established that the US is not a democracy but is ruled by the monied class. The "Patriot Act" ensures against any organized attempt to change matters. The many illegal activities committed under the "Patriot Act" have not been prosecuted. Any more that Bush, Cheney et al will be prosecuted because that decision is made by the upper class.
I think that any premise based upon the existence of the middle class as a population with any power is built upon sand over an earthquake fault. They are interesting as conjectures and without any basis in reality.
