"They say that Satan's greatest achievement is convincing people that he doesn't exist." Which is a perfect example of meme self-preservation. Any attempt to question, or even consider, the question is immediately labeled heresy and punishable by everlasting agony in hell. It's sort of like having acid for blood, "the perfect defense mechanism, you don't dare kill it."
