Not dead yet!

Note that Castro is proving he's alive by being photographed holding a current book. A simple concept that seems to have eluded bin Laden for some years now.

...the new book concludes that Raul Castro, who himself is 76, has been in complete charge since July, and may prove to be the leader who lead Cuba out of its 47 years of isolation and hostility towards the US.

Since he took over the reins of power, some dissidents have been released from prison and there have been discreet overtures towards Washington.

Some western diplomats believe the younger Castro may be exploring the possibility of following a similar path to Vietnam, where markets were gradually been opened up by Communist rulers, though this view is not shared in the US.

This would be remarkable news if true. In my opinion, Castro's death would be a spectacular opportunity to drop, or at least severely cut back, the Cuba embargo. Then see what happens.
