Today there are almost 7000 distinct languages, and you can bet that each one has its own warped religous philosophy, whether animism, polytheism, or monotheism. Primitive tribes still exist in some parts of South America, Africa, and Southern Asia.

A few thousand years ago there were probably hundreds of thousands of distinct cultures, probably one for each village or tribe, each with its own language, dumbass religious beliefs, and a medicine man making it all up as he went along. What bothers me is that the bible focuses only on the Israelites, as if no other society existed. And this is when it is so obvious that Israelites were geographically isolated in a tiny, tiny, puny little patch of dirt north of Egypt.

I'd like to know what my ancestors were doing, and what legends they had, somewhere in Europe, while the Jews were herding goats around the mediterranean thinking they were the only people on earth.
