I cannot figure out what generates the buying and selling on the strangest influences. I see my stocks as a piece of a company. If something blew up in that company, you might have a reason for selling. But why sell your Intel stock because storms hit an oil well? Do the two things have anything to do with each other? Heck, why sell your oil stocks? Is the assumption that the oil companies will never fix the wells and go out of business?
I suspect that much of the hysteria of the market is driven by automatic "buy-sell" engines that work from odd algorithms. I can't believe any people who knew how business worked would be this flighty about equity.
