My remarks were not specifically directed at the current political or global situation. A deep and varied education does not guarantee unanymity with anyone else; bitter opponents can still be highly educated and equally well informed. There is too much in this world that is open to interpretation and that cannot be negotiated equitably to the satisfaction of all concerned. But if there must be conflict, then let it be between those of understanding. If you truly understand where your opponents derive their position, perhaps the conflict can be avoided. Perhaps.

There may indeed be good guys and bad guys, but no one ever thinks THEY are the bad guy. Without that understanding, conflict is not just possible, it is inevitable. And the result of conflict has nothing to do with right or wrong. It is always randomly determined.
