I've got a 5-mega-bps modem, so I shouldn't be having a problem with this. However, I've recently found that several websites that I visit freqently are beginning to have a perceptable (as in significant) delay in downloading. Here is a tentative list:
- Hotmail (after logging in)
- MSNBC
- Global TV
The culprits are websites composed of hundreds of .gif images instead of simple links, websites that have embedded video players that run automatically, websites that have pull-down flash menus, websites that require a software download and run in the background like Virtual Machine. I recently visited my parents in their rural location. They have a dial-up modem. When I tried accessing one of my usual websites it took over 7 minutes to download. No wonder they never use the damn thing.
Anyone know of any other websites that I should avoid?
