Giuliani's conservatism arises from convictions on how government should be organized and how it should operate, not on the relationship between the citizen and the state. His politics are not based on his conception of how God made the Universe or the nature of good and evil . I get the impression his politics are guided by what he feels is possible to carry out and what will work and what will not. I can live with that. He may not go about doing things the way I would, but he is a practical man who uses his reason instead of relying on his faith. I feel about him the way I felt about Bush I and even Nixon. The latter was a profoundly disturbed man, perhaps even an evil one, but it had nothing to do with his political philosophy.
