Advice on scrubbing a computer

Geek Speak » in reply to buy a new hard drive and reinstall everything fresh

I've put together a nice long document describing each step in order to rebuild my system from scratch, having learned from experience what order things work best in. The document has all the serial numbers and such for installation, describes where to go for updates, and all that crap.

There are still things that have to be done on the fly, but the document helps a lot. I wrote it mostly when I rebuilt some time ago.
