I think what the 9/11 survivors are getting is obscene. You cannot put a price on the death of a loved one but those amounts are just too damned much, particularly considering what the soldiers and spouses get. I heard on NPR today that some soldiers who are now unemployable because of war disfigurement get something like 2% disability. Now THAT is obscene!!!!!! A Naval officer was injured in Iraq and the military medical system was just too overloaded to fix him. It would have been delayed for a months or maybe a couple of years. He paid a private surgeon out of his own pocket to fix him and is now back in Iraq because he knows how much they need experienced people there.
