It is a democracy with western values...

The Islamo facists who want it destroyed would like to see an Islamic state take its place.

Plus Isreal is strategically significant.

There is more to strategery than just oil and "Natural" wealth.

It is a long way to Iran without using Isreal and Jordan as "flyover country"
