Avatars, Virtual Worlds, Violence, Bloody Gore, Desensitization.

I've learned more about Avatars, Virtual Worlds, etc., over the past few weeks
than I care to know....I wish I didn't know.

One of the most common traits among the '"real world's" 5.5 million human participants
in the Virtual World gaming/chatting sites is the propensity to participate in games
involving BLOODY VIOLENCE.
Oh yes, one of you will say, it's only make believe and fantasy...no one gets hurt in reality.

Hmmmm...The flaw in that justification is? That "law-abiding" person whose chosen an armed
Avatar to represent him/herself in the Virtual World, who decapitates and disembowels his or
her cyber-opponent, considers nearly all 5.5 million adherents to be equally law-abiding and harmless
in REALITY.

The rash of school shootings around the world since 1992, coincidently when violent/bloody Internet & Video Games
began to emerge, tells a different story.

You might consider that a non sequitor, but those of you, the Virtual World fans/addicts, can't deny
that you've become DESENSITIZED to BLOODY GORE and VIOLENCE.
To prove it, just showe yourself some actual photographs or video footage of anctual disemboweled or beheaded corpse:
did you vomit when you saw it? ....Did you turn away in disgust and aversion?
No?...Then you've admitted you've become desensitized to violence and gore.

When the human race starts to consider even virtual bloodshed enjoyable and entertaining then
the human race deserves to be judged most harshly...and perhaps with finality.
