I'll address the Canadian polls with the title of one of my favorite books of all time: Profiles in Courage.
"Hold off a [reasonable] while..." is actually not something I heard a lot of.
What I *did* hear, from the top of the conservative elite down to the rank-and-file was "not a single one," or words to that effect. How many governors have we heard saying that the nation shouldn't expect their states to accept any refugees?
Of course the Canadians believe there may be a security risk involved...has anyone, anywhere, ever said otherwise?
As for the House Bill...well, I guess I'm as suspicious of stuff that comes from the right as you are of stuff that comes from the left. Even a simple document, in the hands of lawyers, can be home to countless gotchas.
