You are correct. I use the highest compression ratio possible as my ears are not good - holes in the frequencies typical of exposure to loud noises.
And I just "ripped" a 10 CD book down to about 700 MB, so that's about a 10 to 1 ratio. That's what's happening, the compression. It's a slower process than "sync", which is copying.
I'm getting the book deal down better all the time. I really enjoy them. However, it's a rare CD book one gets from the library which is geared for copying. Sometimes I'll get a 7 CD book which comes out on the SD card with 7 "Track one" files in a row, 7 "Track two" files, and so on. Then I have to go back and do them one at a time, but mostly it works just dandy.
And I find the dog getting longer walks, I drive or ride farther than I might otherwise, and so on. I'm really quite surprised they are as enjoyable as they are. Just finished a couple of "Horatio Hornblower" books and am feeling a bit of a post-partus depression. There are more out there, I know, and I'll scour the libraries in the area for them.
