I appreciate your efforts to raise the level around here, and I'm finding it disgustingly hard to move up to a higher plane. I've given it thought, and I suspect I've come to a fairly dismal excuse.

It's hard to deal seriously with folks who are unable to reason, discern and evaluate what happens for themselves, people who accept authoritarian pronouncements without question. People who ignore reality in favor of press statements, who allow wait for Limbaugh and Coulter to know what they think. Folks who refuse to read, understand and apply history can't be taken seriously. Folks who believe there is either good or evil, black and white, who refuse to understand that other cultures and societies are filled with people who have families, friends and relatives as important to them as ours are to us.

People who think that "getting Saddam" is worth killing untold thousands of innocent people even after Saddam has been "gotten", hung by an American sponsored lynch mob. Folks with no empathy.

I'm not able to take them seriously, and I wish, I truly wish, I could. I wish ER were still around, he's my bellwether.

And you. I'm grateful for you, too, as a poster on CE. (All the people who are more active on Community are of course exempt from this rant.)

It makes one wonder about oneself.
