Geek Speak » in reply to Memo to the DVD "format wars": Bite me.

Most new technology leaves me cold.

I wanted a computer quite badly, but I couldn't for the life of me imagine what email could be used for. Was glad to get past MS-DOS into whatever the Windows were before 95, but couldn't imagine using Windows 95.

And so on. I have, though, had the opportunity to watch a number of football games on a 50" HD-TV and I'm in love. I am lusting after one of those HD-DVD/Blu-Ray players and the HD-TV sets though I'm too cheap by far to purchase before the price drops to about 20% of the introductory prices.

Actually, one doesn't really seem to need HD-TV until they go to the larger screen sizes. The 20" LCD flat-screen TV I was given is pretty good.

But I have to admit that newer stuff has it's advantages. The world can thank God for the American consumer.
