Video projectors
If you have a room that you can make dark, and a blank wall, you can get a 10 or 12 foot HD picture for not much more than $1000. Fantastic for movies. I have a Dell that isn't HD but is higher res than DVD, and movies on it are great, even before I get my video room going with special paint on the wall and suround sound.
Doesn't work for everyone, but it sure does for me.
