I guess I have a bit of a different outlook.
I may not believe in gods or God with a capital G, but I am certainly aware of the countless types of beings which exist within this universe, and those that exist just outside our material spectra - both extremely developed positive and those extremely developed negative.
Calling one's own spirit a Daemon is rather repulsive to me. Expressing it as an animal doesn't help much and degrades what is truly an infinite spark of light - a beacon of truth, wisdom and love.
I've battled too many demons to consider them lightly or underestimate their power and reach into our material worlds. Their goal is to pull down an unsuspecting humanity, to embrace materialism over spirit and generally to create legions of addicts of an infinite variety.
The battle of Armageddon is very real. It occurs every moment all around us and within us. Religions I've found, all too often, are tools of these lower forces as they enslave minds, preach divine intercession and generally rob folks of their own sense of morality and initiative.
God is within each of us. As we are all components of an inseparable universe of infinite diversity. But positive and negative do exist in this framework and our evolution mandates we develop and maintain a positive bias.
Books like this are usually harmless for most, but some may find that they embrace the concept that their wisdom and judgment lie outside themselves. That would be a shame, because that mimics many religions that embrace the concept of prayer - another form of this externalized seeking of assistance. One of the things "angels" attempt to do is strengthen the individual's ability to turn within and find their own infinite, unlimited nature. Likewise, one of the things darker forces try to do is to foster insecurity, dependance and a sense of individual insignificance.
As long as a book strengthens an individual, it is beneficial and when it foster self-doubt, insecurity, fear or selfishness it usually acts to stunt personal growth. Gratned, anyone can eventually turn even the most negative book into a positive experience given the necessary understandings to do so, but for most they will carry the burdens of all the negativity thrust upon them.
I recently watched Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End and was, basically, horrified by the notion that children were exposed to such non-stop nightmarish negativity. The underworld taints just like the tentacles of "Davy Jones" and with each murder portrayed or Dali inspired mental nightmares given form, they grow stronger and have more influence in this world. One mind can taint millions. Likewise one mind can inspire millions. At this world, and at this time, many more of the former minds exist than the latter.
Measuring the content of such "children's" books, films or games for such taint becomes a parent's responsibility. Trying to shield while educating youngsters about the depraved world within which they are born, becomes a full time job. And trying to tread water while the mass media are trying to drown you in negativity, violence, lust and perversion becomes every adults, often unrecognized, daily struggle.
Sure, a children's book is just a children's book.
But that's just for the uninitiated.
Each mass media creation eventually forms its own spectra in an astral realm. A very real spectra in which children may visit in their dreams. Harry Potter, Lords of the Rings and any other fictional book, movie or video game creates its own reality - powered by the minds that have entertained such concepts. The more popular the media creation, the larger the realm. Yes, I know - nearly impossible to believe.
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
Oh, the stories I could tell you....but many would be too horrifying to believe as real. In fact, this post already strains credulity and risks tainting instead of uplifiting and so in good conscience I realize I must already wrap this up.
