Yeah, I'm wondering about that too.

I watch a lot of kids' TV shows to keep up with pop culture trends. "Zoey 101" isn't bad, for what it is: a throwaway merchandising machine for teen girls, with OK writing and an upbeat message about friendship. It's not considered "must-see TV" here. For brain candy, my 16-year-old prefers the out-and-out silliness of Disney's "Hannah Montana".

Unfortunately, Jamie Lynn didn't have writers for her real life.

What will Nickelodeon do? They really haven't had to face a development like this before. Many of their teen stars have defected to network, cable, and even movies after getting their start on Nick, but this has to be the first foray into absolutely obvious underage sex.

They can cancel the show, and maybe they will, but the ratings must be through the roof right now. Can they fire her for being pregnant? I don't know what antidiscrimination law will allow.

Any way you look at it, the child has been a commodity. I wonder if she's having a baby to get a little love from somebody, even if it's somebody weighing 8 pounds.
