on the morality of machines

My own take is that as evolution has progressed "morality" expands. Humanity encompass the "morality" of all evolutionary predecessors. I don't mean that we are necessarily of higher morality, but that you can find all moral choices represented in different human beings. Because we are adaptive, and the most highly intelligent creatures to evolve thus far, we do and can exhibit all the moral drives that is natures ways of influencing decisions revolved around acquisition, reproduction, and even altruism.

As far as machines or more directly the artifical intelligence that we force evolving, it or some combination of further evolved human machine combination will become are evolutionary successors and will encompass all past "moral" choices as well as some potentially new ones. In other words it will be a superset. Since human beings are parenting these machines it is only natural that we use ourselves as "moral" models. So, many sets of the morality will directly mimic human moral sets. However, we will also program unique "for a purpose" moral sets into machines creating unique subsets or supersets that may have never previously existed.
