"Saudis plan huge sovereign wealth fund."
So, the Saudi's sell the US oil. We take that oil, convert it into gasoline, diesel fuel and heating oil. Which we burn in order to stay warm and move around. It is gone, history, turned into greenhouse gases and people going to work and back home to warm houses. Basically a net nothing, as they start back where they were.
The Saudis, on the other hand, don't have the oil any more. However, they do have the dollars, which even though not what they used to be are still convertible into ownership of land, companies, the means of production, that sort of thing. Which means that they own the profits from western companies.
Whereas the westerners get, basically, squat. Except more greenhouse gases. And from here to there and back, which is a net, well, squat.
Sounds like a bad dream. The only solution is for the US to drill in Alaska so that we can burn that into greenhouse gases and a net nothing, but have a lot more dead and starving caribou. And more money for the oil companies, which they can turn into more ownership of profit-making enterprises. And fund their never-ending contributions to various charities, making the world a better place for everyone but people and caribou. And aquatic life.
Do I have that right?
Arf
Let's see if I'm getting this right.
