Thanks for your insight, but I will point out a couple of things.
I am fully aware of what smoking* can, and will do to me in the long run. And as an adult, it's my responsibility to deal with it myself. I was using that as an example to illustrate human foibles. Primarily our sloth in dealing with matters concerning the well being of all of us.
Doing the 'right thing' is often much more difficult than allowing the 'wrong thing' to go on.
Our species is complex beyond current understanding. Most of us know what should be done, but get caught up in mundane daily things we let it slide.
That was my entire point, don't take it so seriously. I believe once we reach a certain age we have earned the right to be curmudgeonly old farts who can bitch about everything.
I choose to exercise that right, eagerly and ofter as possible.
*(Thinking about setting up a pool, which one will get me first? The smokes? My diet over the last fifty years? All the industrial chemicals I've been exposed too? Hereditary disease? An enraged 20-something husband? (last was a joke, I prefer mine very single, very willing and mature))
