I'm not sure I can do this.
I want a super-whiz-bang desktop to power a 24" WUXGA monitor and TV. I'm thinking of an Intel quad core 2 chip with a medium-grade video card. It looks as if to do it right I'd need to spend about $1,000 and would be in effect throwing away my present desktop.
And it occurred to me that I could replace the motherboard and CPU on my present system and keep the box, power supply, HDs, DVD and CD R and RW, etc.
I'm wondering if there the thing would work if I swapped out the MB, CPU and heatsink. I built this system and at one point I I replaced the MB with the same model and the CPU with a hotter one and it worked. This time, though, time I want to go from AMD to Intel, and an entirely different MB.
Anyone know anything about this? I'd appreciate it.
