My favorite is the twin fuse P-51 Mustang.
I remember reading an interview with Burt Rutan, many years ago. (The VARI-EZE Kits had just come on the market, and very few people had ever heard of BR)
The thing that sticks with me from the interview was his boyhood obsession with the Lockheed P-38 Lightening.
