The enlightenment, the battle for the 'new science', the struggle for the idea of a secular society, the idea that man and its social structures can stand apart from god and religion. That man, not God, knows justice and forges just action. The expulsion of the demons from the workings of the universe of stuff, and (the still open struggle) to expel gods form the social universe.
And the next most important war is going on now, where the new prophets of the old garbage want it all undone.
