Your source is probably full of baloney. This isn't Rush's style. Also, top Republican Party officials are as happy as pigs in mud about McCain, who has the best chance of winning, and lately, more of them think like McCain than think like Reagan or Rush. I don't know what other channels are available to someone who wants to do an end run around the Republican candidate, and I haven't heard anything like this from my conservative sources, which are extensive.
This entire controversy has been about grass-roots Republicans who aren't that happy with the leftward direction of those running the Republican Party. It isn't about the Party pushing conservatism. I've had a lot of trouble getting this point across.
