Space/Science » in reply to ET venting after separation

I wonder if that's what I saw yesterday.

I just came home from work, and I didn't
even know that the space shuttle had successfully
launched that afternoon.
Looking up around 6:15 PM, here in Calgary, Alberta,
over half an hour after sunset, I saw what I first thought
was a high altitude aircraft, then I suspected that it
was the ISS...

It was brighter than Venus for a short time.
Then it dawned on me that it could be the space shuttle or its
large fuel tank in orbit.

I believe the fuel tank is suborbital, but under certain circumstances
couldn't it do an orbit or two before burning up?
