Irregulars have always been treated differently than prisoners from an organized foe. Standard practice in every war we've ever been in has been that uniformed soldiers who are captured are detained and treated with a certain level of respect, but partisans and irregulars are usually put up against a wall and shot within hours of being caught.
The people who are being "tortured" are terrorists who are hellbent on killing as many of us as they can. They follow no rules of war and give no quarter to those they capture. IMO, this removes any obligation on our part to treat them with civility. Many of those released from Gitmo have either been killed or captured after rejoining the fight against us. The only morality I see in this conflict is to win, and that means by any means necessary.
