She'd kill me. At least I think I'd probably deserve it.

The record is a little different. Married twice, both times to splendid women. And I had my hobbies and interests during both of marriages. With one teeny-tiny exception, neither minded. My first wife did object to my "hobby" of drinking. The other hobbies she didn't mind. And my second wife didn't even mind my drinking.

And I agree with the wisest man I've ever known personally. He once told me, "A good marriage is the best way to live. Single is the next best."

Since I've been sober I've dated numerous great women. Only one I'd marry, but wouldn't have to as we are great friends. However, she is British and her roots are in England. She's 53, beautiful and never been married for about the same reasons.

I'm a product, I'm afraid, of my childhood. I never again want to live where I don't want to go home. And even in the best marriages one can get there from time to time. I simply do not want to have that happen again.

Sigh.
