Did you ever take a minute to understand what it takes to remove someone's post on DKOS? The system is not a simplistic one and not designed for "mob rule". First of all not everyone who participates gets the ability to "troll rate" a post. (It has been renamed to "hide rate" recently) It is a priviledge you earn by your valued participation and that right goes away if you do not participate enough. People rarely use the feature because most participants abide by the rules of civil discourse. Kos has demanded that personal attacks not take place on individuals or posters and when someone violates that people remind them of that very quickly often without having to resort to the hide rating.
Obviously, hard core fundamentalist conservatives viewpoints are not tolerated well on Kos. The stated purpose of the board is the election of Democrats so why would they want to turn discussions into hate fests? There's way too many posts to add to it with extremists.
The tools available for seeing a person's posting history are amazing. You can with a click find out everything that person has said on Kos to be able to help judge their mindset in their current entry. Often it's apparent they're not there just for trolling, they just got a button pushed and you let them rant.
Trolling is unnecessary on any board. On HZ we have small enough participation that we can police ourselves but DK amazes me daily on how efficient it remains with the huge volume of participation they get. If you can figure out a better way to do it than they do I salute you. My guess is you haven't a clue.
