Just finished reading a book called Old Man's War by John Scalzi.
I got it as a free e-book to download when I signed up for Tor's newsletter. I never read a whole novel in e-book form, until now. I decided to try it and got so engrossed in the story that I couldn't stop. I read the whole thing in a day off my laptop. I'm more interested in e-books now than I used to be.
Anyway about the book. This is one of the best sci-fi books I've ever read. It has a Starship Trooper (Heinlein's book not the movie) feel to it, but it is different and fresh. I loved Starship troopers, but I think I like this one more.
Also there is a passage in their that talks about how their skip drive works. I was shocked because it seemed extremely similar to a hypothetical that RL described for interstellar travel. Now I have to go dig for RL's thread and see how close the two are if it was just my imagination.
